Week 5: Building background for The Knight at Dawn. We heard all the sounds in words and jumped for each sound while moving our hands to track the sounds too. We sorted objects with a partner by different attributes. We made props (crafts) for The Knight at Dawn. We played top it and memory with dot cards. We continue to use white board and markers to fine tune our pre-writing skills. And..... THE GRASS IS GROWING!!!! WE ARE SO EXCITED!!! and of course, so much more!!!!!
Week 6: We have been stretching out sounds in words-- See the yellow and red circles with the cards? We push a circle into the boxes-- 1 circle for each sound. Example... Pig would be /p/, /i/, /g/. We are exploring counting sets of objects, 5 frames, and circles. Our grass grew SO TALL! We made our final observations and the students took their observation booklets and grass home. We also did an experiment to see if green bean seeds would grow with or without sunlight. We started acting out MTH (Magic Tree House) book 2: The Knight at Dawn. Can you spot our actors and actresses?
Week 7: We dramatized (acted out) The Knight at Dawn. We told number stories to each other using objects. We used a website called arthub.com to learn how to draw some knights. We graphed pattern blocks and explored with play doh. WE WENT TO FOUR TOWN FARM AND HAD A BLAST!!!! Enjoy the pictures!
Week 8: we used catapults made from sticks to launch differently weighted objects to see what would happen. The class loved this!!!! we learned all about ancient egypt to get ready for out next magic tree house book, mummies in the morning. look at the props (crafts) we made to help us act out the story. we used arthub.com to draw black cats. we had cooperative group work to use one string to create different shapes- looking at vertex and sides.
Happy Halloween!!!
Week 9: We had an amazing Halloween Parade led by Mrs. G. In the afternoon, we were able to make some cool crafts and play a game planned by our wonderful Room Parents. Thank you to our parent volunteers who came in to help with the party and to everyone who donated to make the day a great one for all of "our kids"!
